Rules
Since most people are concerned about appearing in Court, I offer this set of rules and procedures to help you understand how the Court works.
The Court has jurisdiction over traffic and non-traffic ordinance violations that occur in the Village of Union Grove. You have a right to be represented by an attorney, or you may proceed without legal representation. If you desire an attorney, you must retain one at your own expense. This Court will not provide you with an attorney.
We request that people remove their hats out of respect for the Court, and we remind you that there is no smoking in the building. This is a Court of Law, and the rules of proper decorum, procedure, and evidence will be followed. Please remain quiet while the Court is in session, and give others the courtesy to be heard and present their cases. Persons who fail to conduct themselves in an orderly manner shall be cited for contempt of Court.
It is my desire that every party receive fair treatment and due process of law. I wish to leave a lasting, positive impression on each of you regarding our country’s system of justice.
In conclusion, whether you are found guilty or not guilty, the Court would like to impress upon you the necessity of all of us to voluntarily observe all laws. We all desire to make our roads safer places to drive, and our community a better place in which to work and live.
