Recreation Overview
Welcome to the Village of Union Grove Recreation Department. Below you'll find an overview of the programs we support as well as a brief description of each. You can also watch local advertisement to find out more about community room activities and seminars for all ages. Our Recreation Department guided bus tours to local activities or sporting events will also be shown there. SOFTBALL, T-BALL, COACH PITCH AND FASTPITCH SOFTBALL – ALL PROGRAMS SIGN-UP THE MONTH OF FEBRUARY
- Tee Ball – The T-Ball program is designed for children 4-5 years of age. They are taught the fundamentals of baseball and good sportsmanship while underplaying the importance of winning. Games are played on Tuesdays & Thursdays at 6:00 and 7:00 p.m. at various Union Grove Fields.
- Coach Pitch – Coach Pitch is for 6-8 years old. The children are taught the fundamentals of pitching and being pitched to, while still under-playing the importance of winning. Games are played on Mondays & Wednesdays at 6:00 and 7:00 p.m. at various Union Grove Fields.
- Girls Pinto, Junior, and Senior Fastpitch Softball – This program is for girls between the ages of 8 – 10 – Pinto, 11-12 – Junior and 13 – 15 – Senior. This program is associated with the Racine County Softball League. Practices begin late April, with games starting in late May. There is some traveling involved with games being played in Raymond, Caledonia, Sturtevant and Wind Lake. There is also a league tournament and an all-star game to highlight the season.
BASEBALL
The Union Grove Youth Baseball Association (U.G.Y.B.A.) offers a fast pitch baseball program for boys between the ages of 8 – 17 years of age. These leagues are in alliance with the Racine County Baseball Association. Pee Wee 8-10 years old, Little League 11-12 years old, and Pony League 13 – 15 years old. For the boys 16 – 18 years of age there is offered the Junior and Senior Legion League. Signups for all of these programs are run by the U.G.Y.B.A. Contact John Melendrez at 878-0233 with questions regarding this program.
SOCCER - SIGN-UP IN MAY
This program is co-ed for children in grades 1 – 8. Practice and games are held at the Old Grade School, the new Elementary School and Leider Park on Saturday mornings. Age and number of participants determine leagues. Soccer may be used as a stepping-stone for a full conference program through the High School in the future. Call 878-1818 for more details.
BRITISH SOCCER CAMP -

British Soccer Camps provide players of all ages and abilities with the rare opportunity to receive high-level soccer coaching from a team of international experts. Each day includes individual foot skills, technical drills, tactical practices, small-sided games, coached scrimmages, and a daily tournament. Equally important, the Challenger coaching staff provides your child with lessons in respect, responsibility, integrity, sportsmanship and leadership. Camp programs include a free ball and shirt and a free British Soccer jersey for on line registrations 45 days prior to camp!

FOOTBALL
Racine County Youth Football – This program is designed for boys between the ages of 7 – 14 years of age. The program features seven different divisions that range from Pee Wee through High School Prep. Participation in each division is determined by age and weight of participants. Players from the Union Grove Community are drafted onto teams that practice in Union Grove. The majority of the games are played on Saturdays in Racine at Haban and Lockwood parks. RYS provides complete football equipment that must be returned at the end of the season, players are able to keep their game jerseys. (Sign-ups are advertised in local papers and are usually held in Union Grove in May). For more information, please contact Racine Youth Sports.
BASKETBALL
YOUTH BASKETBALL – SIGN-UP IS THE MONTH OF OCTOBER
Division A (co-ed)- This is a program designed to introduce boys and girls in Kindergarten and 1st grade to the game of basketball. Eight foot baskets are used so proper shooting techniques can be taught. Games are played on half a court , three on three teams The players are placed on teams for an eight week game schedule. All games are played in the Union Grove area on Saturdays.
Division B (girls team and boys teams seperated)- This program provides instruction and league play for the girls in boys in second and third grade. Games are played on full court with five on five teams. Games and practices are played on Saturdays at variuos community gyms.
Division C ( girls teams and boys teams seperated)- This program provides instruction and league play for the girls and boys in fourth and fifth grade. This league is reffed and the score is keep. Games and practices are played on week nights at variuos community gyms.
Division D ( girls teams and boys teams seperated)- This program provides instruction and league play for the girls and boys in sixth through eigth grade. This league is reffed and the score is keep. Games and practices are played on week nights at variuos community gyms.
Tournament Team Play - Teams are drafted for fourth through eight grade girls and boys seperated. These teams travel to four or five tournaments a season on weekends. Practices are varoius times at local gyms. To be on the tournament team, your child has to be part of the Union Grove Recreation Basketball program also.
WALKING PROGAM
Walking program – This program is offered through the High School. Adults may walk the halls between the hours of 5:30 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. There is no charge for this program. All participants must sign-up at the Village Hall, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
GENERAL INFORMATION
Anyone interested in helping coach, umpire or referee any of our programs should contact Kim at 262-902-7917. Union Grove Recreation Department has a NO TOLERENCE RULE. Coaches, parents, children and any other spectators watching a sport are not allowed to yell at anyone! If you are caught, you will be warned for unacceptable behavior, if you continue you will be asked to leave the field or court. There are no exceptions to this rule!!!!! When a final date is given for sign-up of any program and you miss that final date, you will not be able to sign up your child. This is a rule that is strictly followed so as to allow time to get teams together, shirts ordered and various other equipment in line to be able to start the program on time. Please do not ask us to bend this rule!!!!
