Open Book to be Held on May 30 & 31

Property owners have an opportunity to discuss their property assessment with the Village Assessor at Open Book on Thursday, May 30 and Friday, May 31 between 2 and 5 p.m. at the Union Grove Municipal Center. Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments are recommended. To make an appointment, contact DH Assessments at 262-498-7473 or jhenke4737@gmail.com. If you are not able to attend Open Book, you are welcome to contact the assessor anytime at the same phone number and e-mail address.

It is a maintenance assessment year in Union Grove, meaning the Village Assessor is reviewing property sales data and accounting for new construction and demolished properties in the assessment roll. Properties with improvements in the past year may be reviewed by the assessor, but there will not be village-wide re-assessments as there are in a revaluation year like 2018. If the assessor has made a change to your assessment for 2019, you will receive an assessment change notice in May.

If you disagree with your property’s assessment, it is recommended that you first contact the assessor or meet with him during Open Book to review your assessment. If you have discussed the matter with the assessor, and you are still not satisfied, make arrangements with the Village Clerk to appear before the Board of Review, which will take place on Thursday, June 27 at 5 p.m.  For information on how to appeal an assessment and for other related information, contact Village Hall or see the Wisconsin Department of Revenue’s Guide for Property Owners.
