Village Seeks Applicants for Committee Openings

Interested in getting involved in your local government? The Village of Union Grove is seeking applicants for openings on Village Committees and Commissions. To be eligible, applicants must reside within the Village limits of Union Grove. Current openings, as of April 26, 2022, are listed below. If you are interested, please complete an Application for Appointment and submit it to the Village Offices or by e-mail to info@uniongrove.net. Applications will be reviewed by the Village President who recommends appointments to the Village Board for approval. Plan Commission –  citizen opening
This Commission performs a variety of functions relating to community planning and land use development. The Plan Commission meets the first Monday of each month at 6 p.m. There is currently one vacancy due to a citizen member winning a seat on the Village Board; the vacancy has a term expiring in April 2023. Terms may be renewed in three-year increments.

Police Commission – citizen opening
This Commission controls, manages, and administers contracts for police services. The Police Commission meets the 4th Tuesday every other month at 5:30 p.m. There is currently one vacancy due to a resident relocating; the vacancy has a term expiring in April 2024. Terms may be renewed in five-year increments.

Community Development Authority – 2 citizen openings
This body carries out community development programs and activities and is involved more specifically with the downtown area. CDA meets the third Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m. There are currently two vacancies due to a resident relocating and another member being elected to Village Board. The vacant seats both have terms expiring in April 2023. Terms may be renewed in four-year increments.

Zoning Board of Appeals – 3 citizen openings
This is a quasi-judicial body that hears and decides requests for zoning variances and other appeals relating to the interpretation of the zoning code. This board meets very infrequently as appeals arise. One vacancy has a term expiring in April 2025 while the other two have terms expiring in 2023. Terms may be renewed in three-year increments.
