The statewide Spring Election and Presidential Primary is scheduled for Tuesday, April 7, 2020. Voting in Union Grove will take place at the Union Grove Municipal Center, 925 15th Ave., during the hours of 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. The ballot will contain races for the Village, school districts, county and state offices, as well as the U.S. Presidential Preference primary. Due to concerns over the coronavirus (COVID-19), election officials are preparing to keep the election facility as clean and safe as possible on Election Day. Extra efforts will be taken to wipe down voting booths and election equipment throughout the day.
The Wisconsin Elections Commission strongly urges anyone who is concerned about exposure to COVID-19 to make plans now submit an absentee ballot by mail for the April 7 Spring Election and Presidential Preference Primary. You may request an absentee ballot online at www.myvote.wi.gov by April 2 and a ballot will be mailed to you. Alternatively, you may request an absentee ballot in writing to the Village Clerk, 925 15th Ave., Union Grove, WI 53182 or via email at email@example.com. You must include a copy of your photo ID, address, date of birth and election date or we will not be able to process your request. Please be sure to allow sufficient mailing time as we must receive your ballot back on or before Election Day.
Though not being as encouraged as absentee voting by mail, voters are also able to vote “In-Person Absentee” at the Union Grove Municipal Center beginning Monday, March 23 until Friday April 3, 2020 – Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (and up until 5 p.m. on Friday, April 3). Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, in-person absentee voting will be available in the Municipal Center parking lot on a drive-up (or walk-up) basis. Electors are still required to show their Photo ID to obtain a ballot.
Individuals are required to be registered to vote in order to request an absentee ballot. The deadline to register by mail or online at http://myvote.wi.gov for the Presidential Preference Primary and Spring Election has been extended to March 30. After this date, electors must register in person at the Municipal Center or at the polling place. Due to the closure of the Municipal Center, voter registration applications will be accepted in the Village dropbox (include a copy of a valid proof of residence) and at the drive-up absentee voting in the Municipal Center parking lot between March 23 and April 3.
